Avtar Panesar
Avtar Panesar has been a Studio Executive for 25 years and spearheaded the International Sales, Distribution and Marketing business for India’s premier film studio – Yash Raj Films.
After 7 years with India’s first music company HMV (now SAREGAMA) based out of London, Avtar kickstarted the international business arm of YRF in 1997 with the first international office in the UK and subsequently, company owned offices were set up in the US, UAE and expanded the distribution network to over 50 territories. As Vice President, Avtar built key relationships at all levels in business and at key festivals, including, Cannes, Toronto, Berlin, to Busan amongst others. He has been a prominent figure and at various international film festivals. He has also been a trailblazer in developing non-traditional markets like, Russia, Turkey, Egypt, South Korea, Japan & China etc.
A passionate fan of the movies, he has been responsible over 50 YRF home productions including some of the highest grossing films of Indian Cinema – Dil To Pagal Hai, Mohabbatein, Veer Zaara, Dhoom, Hum Tum, Tiger Series, Dhoom series, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Band Baajaa Baraat and others.
